Yoga is an ancient practice that originated many thousands of years ago. Its actual origins are impossible to uncover as the original texts were probably written onto fragile palm leaves that would have been easily damaged, destroyed or lost. Additionally, the oral re-telling of yoga’s beginnings has diluted over such a long period. The origin of yoga, however, can be traced back more than 5,000 years. Some researchers suggest yoga could be as much as 10,000 years old.
